Walk along the trail lasts about 1,5-2 hours and it is 3,5 km long.
3. OLD TOWN PERUŠIĆ/CHURCH OF THE HOLLY CROSS/GRABOVAČA
Inside the borders of the significant landscape is old town Perušić whose site, called Vrhovina in Buška parish, was mentioned in distant 1071. In the past two years with the archaeological excavations, archaeologists collected valuable movable archaeological material, which testifies that the fortification of the old town Perušić is one of the few in this area that survived the Ottoman occupation in the 16th century.
Only 50 m northwest from the old town is the medieval and Gothic Church of the Holy Cross, whose uniqueness, among other things, is the fact that the Turks during their rule turned the church into a mosque.
Duration of the tour: approx. 1 hour
4. EDUCATIONAL TRAIL „FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF MIRKO MALEZ“
Educational trail Following the footsteps of Mirko Malez is approximately 2 km long. It connects hills Šutića vrh and Grabovača. On the relatively small area there are five caves, and this trail’s goal is introducing visitors to the history of speleology development in Croatia and to speleology impact of Mirko Malez which begun back in 1946. Educational trail will lead you through the forest and forest slopes, past all of the caves where you can read about each cave and its history. Hiking is, no matter what’s the season, the best way to dive into the relaxed environment of this area. You will tire your body but rest your mind and, we hope, feel at least one piece of the passion towards caves and speleology – like Mirko Malez felt for his whole life.
REQUIRED TIME FOR DETOUR: approx. 1,5h
