Public Institution Cave Park Grabovača, side by side with National Park Brijuni and Nature Parks Lastovo, Medvednica and Papuk, and in cooperation with National Library Perušić and World Wildlife Foundation, joined this year’s Earth Hour Day action.
Lectures about forest ecosystems (Mladen Stapar, dipl.ing.sum.) and the harms of climate change in the example of Cave Park Grabovača (Nada Marijanović, mag.ing.silv.) were held in the town hall. Pupils of the 7th and 8th grade of Elementary School Perušić closely followed the lectures together with their teachers and a few of Perušić’s residents.
However, the most interesting part of the lecture was the video presentation of Jana Mijailović, member of the second women’s climbing expedition to Mount Everest, who evoked all the effects of climate changes to the environment and, also, all the beauty of untouched nature with her personal experience and an abundance of photographs to the pupils.
Earth Hour Day was continued in the centre of Perušić with the beats of the increasingly popular song “Happy” by Pharell Williams and with the recording of a video of the song that will be published on the web and facebook pages of the Cave Park. Pupils of the Elementary School Perušić and Kindergarten Perušić joined the making of the video and, after, participated in “Earth as they see and experience it” workshop in the National Library Perušić.
In this occasion, we invite all residents of the Municipality of Perušić to turn off the lights in their homes today, 29th of March, 2014, between 8:30am and 9:30am to mutually remember the importance of our planet’s preservation.
