Cave park Grabovača for volunteers offers many various things to do. Volunteering also as working in nature protection is specific, each day is different, you meet different people from all over of the world, work different jobs and always learn something new.
What is volontering?
Volunteering is a non-profit and non-paid activity through which individuals can contribute to the well-being of their local community or the entire society, it comes in different forms and includes local and international volunteer ventures.
PI and volunteering
From 2014. PI is accreditated as organisation for accepting the volunteers inside of the European Voluntary Service. European Voluntary Service (EVS) enables young people aged 17-30 years to spend up to 12 months in a foreign country by volunteering on projects dealing with various subjects (art, culture, youth, media, environment, sport, anti-discrimination, human rights, the European Union, etc.).
The final goal of the PI is having a successful volunteering program that is a long-term worthwhile investment that says that the PI is well organized, effective and dedicated to nature preservation, and that it maximally uses the available potentials to achieve the goals of protection.
Karst4U: Discover Undiscovered

General objective of the project K4U: Enable young people in different living environments (ethnic, cultural, religious) to gain knowledge and experience in the field of environmental protection and sustainable tourism.
Improve the quality of public institutions by integrating new methods into their daily activities, creating a modern and dynamic working environment and European cooperation.
Contribute to the development of non-profit projects and actively participate and connect people in shared activities for the benefit of the local community.
To enable volunteers to gain new skills (communication, organizational and administrative) and knowledge through learning teamwork and developing social and environmental awareness.
In order to include a greater range of activities the project consists of two components:
The first component is the inclusion of volunteers in PI activities such as: landscaping in the park (clearing overgrown old roads, water sources, marking hiking and educational trails, landscaping of existing infrastructure), helping local residents in everyday activities (store hay for the winter, hilling gardens), participating together with employees of PI in marketing activities (creating and sharing brochures), participation in the organization and implementation of the 3rd school in nature "GRABOVAČA 2015," maintaining the beginner course of a foreign language for local children, helping employees in the field work (mapping caves and springs of water).
The second component is educational part that will allow volunteers to participate in workshops on topics: karst, caving, tourism and environmental protection, education about medicinal herbs and first aid skills. Further within this component, for volunteers will be provide:visit to the cave Samograd and Old town Perušić, boating on the river Lika, visit to the Kuterevo-refuge for bears, horseback riding... but also learning of the Croatian language.

Common aim of project Discover Croatia is allowing young people from different life enviroment (ethnic, cuktural, religious) to improve their knowledge and rising awakeness of values of nature heritage and its potential for sustainable development oft he rural area.
Improving qualiti of work oft he PI by integration of new work methods in daily activities, creating modern and dinamic work environment and european cooperating.
Also, connecting people in common activities for wellfare of local community.
Special aim is to give voluntairs space to earn new skills and knowledge through learning in teams and develop sovial and ecological awareness, learning foreing language, developing cultural awareness and respecting other cultures.
In order to include a greater range of activities the project consists of two components:
The first component concerns the inclusion of volunteers in the everyday work of the JU in order to contribute their ideas to the improvement of tourism infrastructure. Furthermore, helping the local population in their daily activities. Then organizing, designing and developing a fun entertainment zone for children and working in the field of marketing, where is expressed freedom of choice for the activities themselves (translation, design, and text design).
The second component is primarily related to educational workshops. Preparation and maintenance of a Spanish language school with the aim of introducing children with Spanish language and culture. In addition to the foreign language school, there was also a summer school where volunteers took over the role of educators, and through the workshops and play they created a connection between children and the cave park and thus encouraged them to protect nature. The volunteers themselves were participants of the Croatian language course through which they adopted the basics of Croatian language and learned about Croatian culture and heritage. Furthermore, within this component, a visual identity of the project was created.
MAN AND KARST

The general goal of the project Man and Karst is to provide for the young from the different living environment to upgrade their knowledge and raise awareness about values of sensitive karst system and it's potential for sustainable and motivate other protected areas on karst so as the local/regional community to work more intensively on promotion and preservation of karst with emphasis on more quality presentation of that toward people with special needs.
Continuance of improving the quality of PI's work by applying new working methods trough EU coop. Also, connecting people in common activities for the welfare of local comm. Provide for volunteers earning extra skills (communication, organization and administrative) and knowledge through learning while working in a team and developing social and ecological awareness.
Learning a foreign language; developing cultural awareness and respecting other cultures.
Learning about karst on karst trough mutual interaction of volunteers and local comm., helping that karst becomes the theme that's not by-passing but approached with respect for its extremely sensitive system and importance od it's conservation for future generations.
In order to include a greater range of activities the project consists of three components:
First component include volunteers and the local community in arranging educational trail Man and Karst, including volunteers in everyday activities arranging environment around trails. Help in maintenance of drinking water wells in Park area. Help for the elderly in Park in preparing firewood in cooperation with Red Cross, preparation and crafting objects from karst forms made of nature materials for easier understanding of karst for visually impaired and blind people.
Second are educational activities, that means preparation and giving lessons of Croatian language for volunteers, a preparation and giving foreign language lessons for children, education for volunteers and locals about karst in association with Geographical department in Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics in Zagreb, preparation and keeping Summer school Grabovača 2017. Within this activity, volunteers will be assured with educational activities: visiting caves Samograd and Medina (theme: tourist caves; basic speleology), Old town Perušić (theme: cultural heritage), Kuterevo,river rafting (theme: water in karst), Fruit Center (topic:economics), Association Gargaše (theme: etnoheritage), participation in Red Cross workshops. Education of locals in theme Natura 2000, the importance of waste disposal and recycling and help with preparing and decorating one family's house infield in Park area using only recycling material.
And third component is making of projects visual identity (FB page, logo, brochure,movie…), help with preparing and organizing Lika Cave trekk 2017. – humanitarian-sports manifestation that popularizes geo-heritage and geo-tourism in wich in July 2016. ran 584 runners from 6 states.
